Lead Sheets Should Be Scrapped When These Issues Arise

Lead sheets have a lifespan, and when the following issues occur, they need to be scrapped. Below, lead sheet manufacturer Yafeite introduces these conditions for your reference.

1.Severe Local Reduction in Lead Sheet Rope Diameter: If there is a significant reduction in the rope diameter of the lead sheet, it should be scrapped. If parts of the lead sheet are flattened due to mechanical accidents, it should also be scrapped if the damage is severe.

2.Bending of Lead Sheets: Lead sheets should be scrapped immediately if they bend. Damage caused by heat or electric arcs that results in identifiable discoloration on the surface of the lead sheet indicates it should be scrapped.

3.Extrusion of Lead Sheet Rope Strands: If the rope strands of the lead sheet are extruded, the lead sheet should be scrapped immediately. This deformation occurs when some steel wires or bundles of steel wires are arched on one side of the lead sheet against the pulley groove, often due to impact loads. If this deformation is severe, the lead sheet should be scrapped.

4.Severe Local Increase in Lead Sheet Rope Diameter: If there is a significant increase in the rope diameter of the lead sheet, it should be scrapped. Kinking occurs when the lead sheet forms a loop and is pulled tight without being able to rotate around its axis, resulting in uneven twisting and extra wear. Severe kinking can cause the lead sheet to twist, leaving only a minimal portion of its strength.

5.Severe Kinking of Lead Sheets: Lead sheets should be scrapped immediately if they exhibit severe kinking. Local reduction in rope diameter is often related to the breaking of the rope core, and it is essential to carefully inspect for this deformation near the rope ends.
